چکیده

Teaching Introductory courses in Computer science in a Liberal Arts College faces a lot of problems: different way of thinking for most of the students, hard topics, and students’ unpreparedness for disciplined systematic thinking. Active learning – building knowledge on the previous with progressive assignments, based on a constructivist approach, seems to be the path of effective teaching introductory courses in programming. Our experience with Progressive Graphics Examples based on the Spiral Model, shows dramatic results in students’ attitudes, grades and satisfaction.
